About Safer Online

What is 'Safer Online'?

The first goal of this website is to offer a spot with information for people who want to embark on the journey of improving their online privacy. Online privacy is only a part of your total privacy, but in times when data is the new gold it remains important.

'Safer Online' is not my main activity and will be updated on a 'best effort' manner. Please forgive me when the updates are not frequent.

Aside from this website 'Safer Online' provides an alternative communication platform. This platform can serve as a decentral alternative to the different Big Tech platforms (such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger). These Big Tech platforms are the ones in the cross-hairs of the most invasive government regulations, such as Chat Control that was voted for through backdoor politics by the EU on Wednesday, 26th of November, 2025.

This communication platform is based on the XMPP protocol and is, just like email, not limited to 'Safer Online'. With an @veiligeronline.be XMPP account you can communicate with every other XMPP user on every other XMPP server. Access to the 'Safer Online' communication platform is invite-only.
